Geechy Boi
This South Carolina born artist, Kelvin Stevenson p.k.a. Geechy Boi has seen his share of deprivation. "It is said that it is not a man’s trials nor tribulations in life that make him, but how he chooses to adapt and overcome them." At the age of twelve, tragedy struck when he witnessed the untimely death of his mother. Consequently by the age of sixteen, he had lived in and out of several foster homes. With no direction Geechy Boi chose a path of chaotic behavior, which ultimately became his lifestyle. As a direct result of his choices, he concluded this scenario by ending up in a Federal Penitentiary by the age of nineteen. With all the odds of rehabilitation against him, you would think he was predestined for a life a crime. From the view of an outsider, one would very well believe this to be the conclusion to a very sad story. But, as you will soon see this highly motivated, gifted and charismatic talent is much more than a rap sheet. He is a true testimony to what a strong will and spirituality can do.
With a past that could rival most proclaimed gangster rappers, Geechy Boi (formerly known as Infinique) has stepped out of the stereotypical role of a street lyricist. His story is not one of raping since birth or even high school. In fact, interestingly his start has its beginnings inside the prison walls. His intense determination and outspoken demeanor are mesmerizing to witness. In fact, while incarcerated his skill as a lyricist became apparent when his reputation as a creative rapper traveled through the system. A fellow inmate, Buddy Rowe (Slip N Slide Records) told a partner, Charles Willis, that there was this talented brother he needed to meet. "I met up with and I performed some rhymes for Charles Willis." Charles was so impressed with Geechy Boi’s (who was at that time known as Infinique) ability to spontaneously freestyle that he made a phone call to the well known famed Atlanta producer Rico Wade (Dungeon Family/ Organized Noize). Two weeks later Infinique met with Rico Wade. His lyrical presentation impressed him enough to motivate the well known producer to work out a deal once Infinique completed his time. As a result, once he left the system he focused on recording.
Geechy Boi’s love of music became apparent as the years passed away in the Federal Penitentiary. He stated, "God gave me the talent, I didn’t know I had until I was incarcerated." As a tribute to God, he wrote a song entitled "Holding On" describing the trials and tribulations of his life. This self-analysis he explains, "woke me up spiritually… since then I have felt spiritually anointed." His new found faith led him to write over one hundred songs while incarcerated. "Being locked up has definitely humbled me, … it has taken me six years in the pen to realize my true calling… I’m a lyrical truth sayer." He finds his source of inspiration comes from life experiences, which materialized, into the unique perspective that flows through his pen into the microphone. Listeners are magically possessed by his pure lyrical truths and expressive delivery. "I am really fortunate to have survived all that I have to this point, it’s time for me to right the wrongs I’ve done in the past and help others to understand." His conscious effort to make something of himself and use the years inside to his advantage made him mature. Don’t misinterpret his lyrical content as the norm, for his arsenal of written songs vary as much in vocal arrangement as they do in subject matter.
His name, Geechy Boi, demands attention because of the unique style and delivery this naturally gifted poet, and emotional writer exudes. "I believe one possesses infinite possibilities in the choices one makes, desires, coupled with understanding, and acquired wisdom." When in his presence, it’s hard not to be in awe of his inner energy and outer intensity. He can do it all as a producer, songwriter, and talented entertainer. He saturates his writings with interpretations of reconstructed memories of the conditions and situations he recycled as a youth and changed man.
To his credit Geechy Boi (a.k.a. Infinique) completed the album project with Dungeon Family (Organized Noize) producer Rico Wade entitled "Da Connect Dungeon Family Second Generation." Da Connect consist of solo artist: Geechy Boi (Infinique), G-Rock, C-Smooth, Meathead, and Boulevard. This album also featured: Goodie Mob, Bubba Sparxxx, Ludacris, Witch Doctor, Back Bone, and Roscoe.

Geechy Boi (a.k.a. Infinique) has performed on numerous stages for hundreds to thousands of adoring fans across North & South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. His magical presentation is formulated with a special mix of high energy beats, emotional vocal intonations, combined with untouchable lyrics. He stated, "I just try to surround myself with people who are positive and focused… I have so much to be thankful for. I took a trip to Atlanta and from there was introduced to the real life of music. I am truly blessed."
God Is
In October 2005, Geechy Boi was contacted by Co-ordinator/ Producer Crown Printz of Trio Productions Milwaukee WI to ask if he would be interested in a possible soundtrack recording. To Geechy Boi’s delight, the recording concept would be based on the life of the legendary Jimi Hendrix. He states, "I’ve always been a fan and kindred spirit of Jimi Hendrix and I strongly believe that his music should be revisited." Geechy Boi listened to every album he could find of Jimi Hendrix. "I needed to have a conversation with Jimi… I listened to his albums over and over again and I found his true voice speaking, is his guitar." There was a need to show common ground between the music of the past till now. The music created by Jimi Hendrix in his time was said to be experimental but the same could also be said for the present. Geechy Boi states, "Hip Hop was looked upon as experimental, as something that would fade away… that was not the case and neither is it the case for Hendrix… his music and inspiration will forever be passed through generations." In staying true to the experimental phase of the recording, Geechy Boi looked for a way to bring to the recording that special something that Hendrix brought to his music through his guitar. A conversation with his manager Ms. (Mynx) Sayers brought about an idea to do the same as Hendrix but since Geechy Boi does not play the guitar he would have to create the sound as a vocal guitar. After laying down the vocal guitar track, it was then enhanced through the magic of engineering and now sounds remarkably like a guitar being played. The soundtrack recording titled "God Is" is a true testament to life’s struggle and many will relate to the words spoken as well as the music production, which is also unique and truly transcends time.
